Aerials Gymnastics captures another state championship!

EATONTOWN, NJ--Aerials Gymnastics claimed yet another Jersey Optional Gymnastics Association State Championship when their Level 2 team soared to victory.

Leading the team’s victory was Maria Cusanelli, Manalapan, the 12- to 14-year-old All-Around State Champion. Cusanelli is also the 2010 State Champion on balance beam and uneven bars. She finished second on vault and fourth on floor.

Also in the 12-14 division was Carly Markbreiter, Ocean Township, the sixth all-around gymnast who also placed third on balance beam and sixth on floor.

The second place all-around gymnast in the 15-17 division was Gabrielle Boyer, West Long Branch, who also placed fourth on balance beam, fifth on floor, sixth on uneven bars and ninth on vault.

Aerials gymnasts Catherine Oliver, Middletown, and Rebecca Green, Ocean Township, tied for the 15-17 state championship on beam. Oliver also placed seventh all-around and third on vault, and Green was seventh on floor.

In the 18 and over division Brittany Barry, Manalapan, the 2009 State Champion on floor, once again took home the state championship. She was also third on balance beam and seventh all-around.

Alexa Decanio, Howell, was the third all-around gymnast in addition to placing second on both balance beam and floor.

Aerials’ Level 3 team was lead by outstanding performances by Monet Masters, Howell, and Kelly Votapek, Middletown.

Masters dominated the 15-year-old division becoming the 2010 All-Around State Champion, as well as the state champion on balance beam, floor and vault.

Votapek is the 14-year-old division 2010 All-Around State champion and placed second on uneven bars, third on balance beam and fourth on floor and vault.

The team placed third overall.

In the Level 1 division, Aerials’ Kelsey Hoffbauer, Colts Neck, is the State Champion on uneven bars.

The Level 1 team placed third.

David Kulha and Stephanie Pryor, the team’s coaches, both expressed how proud they are of all their gymnasts.

Sue Sarafian, who owns Aerials, also expressed her extreme pride in the accomplishments of these young athletes, some of whom started their gymnastic careers at Aerials as toddlers.

Aerials Gymnastics, located at 151 Industrial Way East , Eatontown offers classes from Mommy & Me through high school. Ms. Sarafian, a former Physical Education teacher loves to share her passion of gymnastics and healthy active lifestyles with children of all ages and always extends the invitation to any child to come in and try a free class.
